The ABC (and D)s of Move
Engage, a part of the DHS Group HealthSpective program that offers an integrated suite of health and wellness solutions, supports the whole employee and promotes healthy changes that lead to long-term rewards through education and engagement.
One way Engage gets this done is through Move, a program that encourages employees to participate in games and competitions available and monitored through activity trackers and mobile fitness apps (including DHS Group’s own low-cost Movband activity tracker, Fitbit, Garmin, Misfit, Yoo, Apple Health and Google Fit).
Here’s what you need to know:
A is for APP USAGE
Move works flawlessly through the HealthSpective Mobile App (available for free download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store) and is the spot where you can sync with both the Movband 3 and 4, Apple Health/Apple Watch and Google Fit/Android Wear (other devices and the Movband 2 cannot sync through the app, but activity can still be viewed).
B is for BIKING (and other movement)
Your credits for activity throughout the day shouldn’t be pigeonholed to a specific type of activity (like just running or walking) … The good news is that with a few simple changes, Movband will credit activity like biking or spinning. As your hands and arms (where Movband is worn) is mostly stationary on handlebars while biking or spinning, simply change the location of your Movband to your ankle or secure it with a shoelace on your foot.
C is for COMPUTERS (and how to sync)
As mentioned in “A,” both the Movband 4 and Movband 3 can be synced through the HealthSpective Mobile app, but if you prefer not to use the mobile app, syncing can be done through the HealthSpective online application. If you’re using a third-party device (like Fitbit or Garmin), just follow the manufacturer’s syncing instructions and add it to your Move account and your information will populate to your Move dashboard.
D is for DEVICES
It’s no fun being boxed into a certain device in order to engage your employees, compete for prizes or earn benefits and wellness credits – everyone’s lifestyles differ, and with that, so do their choices in fitness and activity trackers. Move, in addition to being compatible with DHS Group’s own Movband device (available in several versions and styles), Move works with Fitbit, Garmin, Misfit, Yoo, Apple Health/Apple Watch and Google Fit/Android Wear. Additionally, Move supports MapMyFitness, LifeFitness and Strava in conjunction with a device that records routine activity.
Eight-five percent of Move participants are inspired to move more – an engagement rate that’s more than double the industry average. While this stat is impressive and the ABCs mentioned above make the program easy to use, the real power of Move is helping entire organizations move more, perform better, sleep better and become happier. That’s powerful.
If you’re interested in enhancing the wellbeing program you already have in place, a great starting point is health coaching.
